With softer lighting, ambient noise reduction, large clocks and geriatric-friendly chairs, you receive care in a comfortable setting. Other features include walkers and canes, large-print forms, nonskid socks and after-hours meals for older adults.
• Expertise in geriatric care: Our team provides emergency care tailored to the needs of older adults. When you arrive, we quickly evaluate you to understand your medical history and address specific concerns. We perform a fall risk assessment and look for signs of delirium or cognitive problems. We also check for any medication interactions.
• Access to resources: Our team assists with ongoing care after you leave the emergency department, if needed. Along with the hospital’s specialized Senior Services caregivers, we help older adults and their caregivers ensure a smooth transition home. We can connect you with home care services and community resources.
