Second Chance at Life: Interventional Stroke

Mike Jones was in the right place at the right time. An Iowa native, Mike was visiting Door County when he suddenly collapsed from a stroke. He was quickly transported to Aurora BayCare Medical Center, the region’s first and only Comprehensive Stroke Center. When it comes to treating stroke, seconds matter. For each minute a stroke goes untreated 1.9 million brain cells die. Dr. Darkhabani and the area’s largest team of neurointervention specialists sprang into action and pulled out the blood clot that was blocking oxygen to Mike’s brain. Today he’s one of the rare survivors who’s made a full recovery after such a significant stroke.
