Infectious Disease
Experts in diagnosing and treating various communicable diseases
Some infectious diseases are passed from person-to-person, while others are transmitted by insect or animal bites, via contaminated foods, or through other environmental exposures.
Aurora BayCare’s infectious disease specialists are experts in diagnosing and treating various communicable diseases. We address infections caused by viruses, bacteria, fungi, and parasites.
Many common infections can be treated by your primary physician. Your doctor might refer you to an infectious disease specialist when an infection is difficult to diagnose, is accompanied by a high fever, or does not respond to treatment.
Some of the conditions we treat include:
- Lung infections
- Bone and joint infections
- Endocarditis
- HIV/AIDS infection
- Meningitis
- Sexually transmitted infections
- Skin and soft tissue infections
- Tuberculosis and Nontuberculosis Mycobacterial Infections
- Infections in returning international travelers
- Sepsis / blood stream infections
- Intra-abdominal infections
- Urinary tract infections
As infectious disease specialists, we work with your primary care provider to diagnose the cause of your infection. If treatment is necessary, we partner with your doctor to develop a treatment plan best suited to your needs. Depending on your infection, we may continue to see you for follow-up visits to confirm the infection is gone and help prevent it from coming back.
