Egg Donation And Surrogacy
Helping you create your family
Many factors can affect your ability to produce healthy eggs or carry a child to term. In these situations, our Fertility Services offers comprehensive egg donation and surrogacy services.
Surrogacy Services
If you have viable eggs, but have difficulty carrying a child to term for any of a variety of reasons, a surrogate (also known as a gestational carrier) may be an option for you. In this process, embryos created with your eggs and your partner's sperm are transferred to another woman to carry the pregnancy.
The surrogate carries and delivers the baby, who is then placed with you. Surrogates are often known to recipient couples, be they friends, family members or co-workers. We can also connect you with agencies that assist couples in finding surrogates.
Couples choosing our surrogate or surrogacy program will first complete the standard fertility tests, including hormone blood tests, infectious disease screening, semen analysis, and a psychological evaluation. You will also need to consult with a lawyer specializing in reproductive law in order to establish a legal contract between you and your surrogate.
Egg Donation Services
If you wish to identify an egg donor, you have two options:
- Anonymous donor: An anonymous donor is a healthy female between the ages of 21-31 who is interested in assisting a couple to achieve their dream of having a baby. In this scenario, both the donor’s and the recipient couple’s identity is protected. An anonymous donor is chosen by reviewing profiles from our pool of donors, with the help of a donor coordinator, who helps you make a match that best meets your needs.
- Directed donor: A directed donor is someone you know, usually a friend or family member, who is interested in assisting you in having a baby.
Once a donor is chosen, the screening process begins. All of our donors, whether anonymous or directed, are thoroughly screened through the same process as surrogates.
After the screening process, the in vitro fertilization cycle is planned and the menstrual cycles of you and your donor are synchronized through the use of oral contraceptives. The donor will undergo ovarian stimulation using injectable medications, and you will begin your cycle to prepare your uterus to carry a pregnancy. At the appropriate time, we retrieve the donor eggs and fertilize them with your partner’s sperm in the embryology lab. Embryo transfer occurs three to five days after egg retrieval.
Become an Egg Donor
At Aurora BayCare, we have helped many couples realize their dream of becoming parents, but we need help making motherhood possible. We are looking for additional women between the ages of 21 and 31 to become egg donors. An egg donor can help a couple that is otherwise unable to bear children.
Our egg donation process is completely anonymous and your name will remain strictly confidential at all times. As a donor, you will not incur any costs. Because egg donation requires an extensive time commitment, you will receive $5,000 in compensation after the egg retrieval.
Potential egg donors will complete a brief, pre-qualifying application which will be reviewed by our fertility team. If chosen by a recipient couple, you will also need to complete a basic blood test, cultures and a psychological evaluation - all paid for by the recipient couple.
