Sports Medicine Rehab: Why Choose Aurora BayCare Medical Center?
At our sports rehabilitation program, you’ll find:
- Focus on athletes: Our sports physical therapists specialize in the unique needs of athletes who want to return to their sport. We focus on not only helping you heal, but also improving your overall athletic performance and preventing future injuries.
- Complete care: Once you’re discharged from rehabilitation, you can take part in a supervised Sports Transitional program. You receive an individualized exercise plan and the guidance of an experienced personal trainer. These programs help you continue to meet performance goals even after you’ve recovered.
- Team approach: Our therapists work closely with your referring provider and athletic trainers. We make sure you receive timely, coordinated care.
- Expert providers: Licensed physical therapists and athletic trainers have extensive training in sports medicine. They provide one-on-one treatment that utilizes the latest research and is tailored to the unique demands of your sport.
Our Sports Medicine Equipment
Sports injuries affect everyone differently. Our physical therapists and athletic trainers assess your specific performance challenges before designing a customized treatment plan. We offer:
- Anti-gravity treadmill: The AlterG® helps you rehabilitate lower extremity injuries while allowing you to work out at partial body weight.
- Fitness center: A fitness center features a range of cardio and strength machines. Work with your therapist or an athletic trainer to build a personalized recovery program.
- Underwater treadmill: Get the benefits of low-impact exercise while leveraging the buoyancy effects of water. We use innovative aquatic exercise equipment in our warm water therapy pool.
- Video assessments: We use video to analyze balance, body mechanics and other issues that might lead to repeat injuries during tasks such as biking, running, golfing or dance.
- Dry needling: Physical therapists insert a thin, flexible needle into muscles or connective tissue to release tension. Dry needling will relieve pain, improve range of motion, and allow for a faster return to activities.
- Blood flow restriction: We use a tourniquet system to reduce blood flow so you can get stronger while working out with lighter weights. This method allows you to lift weights without extra stress on the injured tissue.
- Concussion Management: Our team may use imaging tests to check for brain damage caused by concussion. We then create a treatment protocol and recovery plan to help your brain heal properly.
