We’re Listening
Not all hearing aid providers are Doctors of Audiology. But our Aurora BayCare audiologists have all reached this advanced degree of education and training. Our Doctors of Audiology diagnose and treat all degrees of hearing impairment, including mild hearing loss, moderate hearing loss and severe hearing loss. They also specialize in:
- Balance testing and vertigo
- Hearing aid evaluation, fitting, and repair
- Tinnitus (ringing in ears)
- Pediatric hearing loss, including newborns
Hearing Aid Specialists
Our hearing aid evaluations will determine whether you are a candidate for hearing aids. We’ll also provide thorough consultation about the latest hearing aid technology, so you can make an informed choice.
Our hearing aid options include a wide range of manufacturers and digital technologies. We are not franchised or contracted with any product manufacturers. That means we can better match you with the exact product you need to address your hearing loss.
We are the first in Green Bay to offer the innovative hearing aid technology, Lyric. Lyric is the world's first 100% invisible hearing aid. You get crisp, incredible hearing with a tiny device positioned inside your ear canal. Lyric can be worn continually; 24 hours a day, for months at a time. You won't have to remove Lyric at night and you won't have to take it out for everyday activities like showering* or working out. Here are a few reasons Lyrics may be right for you:
- 100% invisible
- Better hearing, all day
- Natural sound quality
- No batteries to change
- Better ability to determine where sounds are coming from
If you think Lyric or another hearing aid solution may be right for you, give us a call. We offer consultations and testing at Aurora BayCare Medical Center and Aurora BayCare Health Center.
Balance Disorders
Millions of Americans have balance disorders such as vertigo or dizziness, but many of them are surprised to learn that balance issues may be caused by a problem in their inner ear. Balance problems are serious, particularly for older individuals at risk for fall-related injuries, such as breaking a hip.
Do you…
- Feel unsteady?
- Feel like the room is spinning?
- Feel lightheaded?
- Experience blurred vision?
- Ever feel disoriented?
If you answered yes to any of these questions, talk to your ENT doctor for a referral to our office.
Tinnitus
Do you often hear ringing, roaring or hissing in your ears? If so, you might have a condition called tinnitus. Many people experience occasional tinnitus, but sometimes it can get so bad that it interferes with your ability to hear, work or sleep.
Tinnitus can be caused by hearing loss, loud noises, certain medications and other health problems. If you think you might have tinnitus, see your doctor or make an appointment with an audiologist. We can help determine if your tinnitus is related to an ear problem or hearing loss.
Although there is no cure for tinnitus, we may be able to better manage the cause. We can also offer other treatments such as hearing aids, medication or “tinnitus maskers” that could give you some relief.
Hearing and Communication
If someone you know has a hearing problem, encourage them to get medical attention. There has never been a better selection of hearing aids and technology available to correct hearing problems.
In the meantime, there are simple things you can do to make communication easier:
- Look directly at the person while you’re speaking
- Do not hide your mouth, chew gum or eat while talking
- Use facial expressions to give clues to your words and meaning
- Try to move to an area with good lighting and low background noise
- Include hearing impaired people in discussions so they don’t feel isolated
