Financial Counseling

Financial counselors can help if you have concerns about how you will pay your hospital bill. They will answer questions about your bill and discuss payment options. If you do not have insurance, they will help you find out if you qualify for Medicaid or other assistance programs.

Financial counselors can also help you obtain an estimate of costs before you receive services. We know billing and insurance issues can be complicated. If you prefer, you can make an appointment to meet with a financial counselor in person, at the hospital. Call our financial counselors at 800-326-2250.

Insurance

Please contact your insurance company if you have questions about your coverage. You will be responsible or any services not approved by your insurance company.

How do I know if my insurance provider contracts with Aurora BayCare?
Contact your insurance provider to make sure Aurora BayCare is part of your approved provider network.

Do I need pre-authorization before my visit?
Many insurance companies require an approval, called “pre-authorization” or “pre-certification,” before your doctor can do certain tests or admit you to the hospital. We recommend you contact your plan ahead of time to ensure services will be covered.

Do I need to pay a co-payment?
Your health insurance plan my require a co-payment that will be due when you register for your appointment. Please check with your insurance provider before your visit.

Can I get an estimate of the costs?
Aurora BayCare has financial counselors who can help you get an estimate of costs before you receive services. You should also speak to your insurance company to find out what portion of those costs they will pay. Many insurance companies limit payments using their own fee schedules or UCRs (“usually, customary and reasonable”). Aurora BayCare's fees may differ from the insurance UCRs. You are responsible for the amount not covered by your insurance company’s UCR.

If you have questions about a bill you receive from Aurora BayCare, please contact us at 800-326-2250.
