Aurora BayCare Medical Center Becomes First in Wisconsin to Achieve Spine Program Certification

GREEN BAY, Wis. - Aurora BayCare Medical Center recently became the first and only hospital in Wisconsin to receive the DNV GL Healthcare Spine Surgery Program Certification (SSPC), showcasing how Aurora BayCare is a leader in neurological services. After undergoing rigorous criteria that assessed processes across the spectrum of spine services, Aurora BayCare is recognized for its excellence in complete spine surgery and expertise.

"Aurora BayCare is proud to continue being first in Wisconsin to earn distinguished industry certifications for our continued growth in expertise," Dr. Paul Baek, Aurora BayCare neurosurgeon, said. "The Spine Surgery Program Certification and Comprehensive Stroke Center Certification have instilled confidence and pride in our community."

Through the certification process, organizations pinpoint strong practices and where growth is needed. The evaluation provides facilities with ways to continue improving and enhancing their operational performance for long-term success and better patient outcomes. Aurora BayCare is also the area's first and only Comprehensive Stroke Center and received the Comprehensive Stroke Center Certification in May 2017 from the DNV GL Healthcare.

"The Spine Surgery Certification is a testament to not only Aurora BayCare's excellent spine care but also the outstanding neuroscience program," Dr. Brian Johnson, Aurora BayCare chief medical officer, said. "The spine program is a strong addition to the neuroscience program as we serve as the area's leader in neurological services and provide the highest level of care for complex stroke, aneurysm and spine patients."
