The Halloween-themed event had a race for everyone, with a 1k family fun run/walk, 5k and 10k. All were invited to dress up, bring their children and have some fun while getting active. Parents were also encouraged to bring strollers for their young children.
"This is one of our favorite family-oriented events," said Aurora BayCare's Nick Olsen. "The Aurora BayCare Spooky Sprint promotes family fitness and is an event everyone can enjoy. It also gives the chance to get more use out of Halloween costumes, if participants choose to dress up."
All registered participants received a race shirt and were given the opportunity to win the costume contest in four different categories: youth, adult, family and team. Participants were also rewarded with free tickets to Shopko Sweet Street, making it a huge hit with the kids.
Proceeds from the Aurora BayCare Spooky Sprint went to Sting Cancer, a local organization that raises funds to put together care packages for cancer patients in the area.
